Busted
Sometimes I just fail.
And other times I think I'm doing just fine, until it's pointed out that I just failed.
This morning, while driving the Nana Bus, I was frustrated by the crowded school parking lot. We were a minute from being late, due to heavy traffic, and the car in front of me stopped - to let some children and parents cross, of course - blocking me from parking and getting out to walk my boy to his teacher.
"Come on," I mumbled in a voice loud enough for the Bubba to hear me, "you're gonna make us late!"
The car soon moved on, in reality taking only seconds for the pedestrian pause.
We quickly parked and beat a fast path to the cross walk to enter the playground. Beside the parking lot is the drive through lane, where parents can stay in cars and drop their children off, instead of parking. I've often noticed that the drive through lane is slower than actually parking and walking, due to the number of stops the drivers must make to allow for the cross walk students. (All I can say is, I am so glad there is always a staff person on cross walk duty with her little flag and official vest).
As we walked up to the cross walk, I heard a man cursing and yelling, "Come on, man, get going! What the deal?" It was quite loud as his window was open. (Colorful language removed.)
Wow, I thought.
"Someone is grumpy," I said to the crossing guard as we passed in front of waiting vehicles.
It's so silly to be riled up when you know you have to wait. It's a school zone, for crying out loud.
It took me maybe 15 steps before I realized my hypocrisy.
Yes. I might as well have yelled out the window, for all in all, I had done the same thing when I was complaining about the woman stopping in front of me for a bare 20 seconds.
Busted. It might not have been obvious to those around me, but the Lord knows my heart. And it was cranky.
Tomorrow is a new day. I will try to take my time and not worry about the little stuff. It's all good, making sure kids are safe. Better to be late than hurt someone or have a cranky heart.
They never mark us tardy anyway.

New School
What a blessing from God! A brand new building, beautiful environment, spacious rooms, fresh views, wonderful students, awesome staff, rural location, excellent curriculum...What more could one want?
"Praise the LORD!
Praise the LORD, O my soul!
While I live I will praise the LORD;
I will sing praises to my God while I have my being."
(Psalm 146:1-2)

Do you love to Auction?
Yes, I used auction as a verb...
If you love the thrill of the hunt, bid, and win, then Friday night is for you!
Join community members and valley residents at the annual Harrah Community Christian School Auction. The fun (competition?) gets under way at 5:30 with a silent auction. The live auction will take place later on in the evening. Students of the school will sing 2 inspirational songs. Besides bidding, winning, looking, listening, visiting...eating? Roast beef sandwiches on the house. Yummers for all of us.
See you there - May 7, at the warehouse on the corner of Harrah Road and Branch - next to the RR tracks.

All Work and No Play Makes Angie Behind on This Blog
I am no longer in a retirement/unemployed status. And just to let you know, it is seriously cutting into my free time! Things like this blog have suffered...as well as sleep time, hubby time, friend time, shopping time, writing time, stamping time, crafting time...What has increased is my stress level, which shows itself in my jaw and neck, and probably the width of the view (of me) from behind. But the sacrifice is worth every second. That is what I am telling myself when I get up at 5:30 am each day, and head home usually around 6:00 pm at night.
But seriously, God provided a teaching job for me at the 11th hour before the school year began. One week before students, I was hired. It has been a whirlwind of planning, preparing, cleaning, making, searching, talking...and the Superstars are off and running. The last month has hurled me into the world of teaching, from which I had a few years of a hiatus. Well, a break from formal teaching...
Harrah Community Christian School is my place of rest, I mean where I teach. I really wanted my own classroom. God gave me my own building! I did not want to teach higher than 3rd. I am teaching a combo class of 2nd-3rd graders. I've heard horror stories about class sizes between 27-31 in public schools. I have a lovely 12 students. I wanted to be able to share my faith. I am required to teach Bible and pray in class! I missed relationships with colleagues. HCCS has a very small staff of 5 teachers and 4 support personnel. And each one of them is a blessing to me. I think they must be ready to pull out some more hair every time I ask yet another question, but they don't show that to me. :) The coffers were getting pretty empty, dry, and dusty. Now there is a bit of lolly floating around. A bit. And even though my hours are long now, I think it's a part of God's plan to keep my mind occupied while our son serves overseas in a dangerous location...Being very busy keeps me with less time to worry and fret (which is wrong anyway, since God is taking care of it all).
I'd say, things are going great for us. Blessings upon blessings. Now, I just need the strength to keep up! But the Lord will provide.
All in all, I'd say Thanks-for-giving will take on some in-depth meaning this year.
