Being Thankful

Another Thanksgiving has passed us by.

I'm always a bit sad when it is gone. It's such a long year until the next Thanksgiving and I love having a reason to reflect on those things for which I am thankful.

We had a quiet day of celebration with a grand total of 11 people (plus 1 in utero, so I could count that as 12) at our table. It was a wonderful day.

Here are some 'things' for which I am thankful.

Grandbaby number 5 and her/his mommy, Jamie Lee, the talented seamstress and teacher

Shoes by the door

My Donavyn, who can figure out how to open anything (I mean anything)

Donavyn and my baby playing cars

My Hayden (6 and in 1st grade)

My Miss Khloe (4 and in preschool)

The meal

My baby girl, Mommy and future college student

My baby's baby, My Gage

My baby boy, Mr. Mechanic, daddy of 1 and another that's getting ready to surprise us

Mr. Collin, daddy of 3, 4-wheelin' dude (trying not to be in the picture)

My honey (who recently, uhm, went dumpster diving when he accidently dropped in his glasses) - don't worry, he washed his hands a million times

Mommy naps

Bonding boys

Popsicle prince

Popsicle princess

Papa and his 'silly' hat

Grandma Carole

As you can see, I am thankful for quite a few things, er, people. I just have to remember to be thankful throughout the year, not just on the fourth Thursday of November.

Did you notice all of the 'my's? I claim relationship with these blessings in my life.

(Not pictured: So many people. Missed you! I claim you as 'my,' too.)

Happy Thanksgiving! I'd love to hear your thankful list.

Thankful Thursday Brought to You By the Letter Uu

Today's Thankful Thursday is brought to you by the letter Uu.

Ugh . . . I think this may be a short list!

Things for which I am thankful that begin with the letter Uu:

~ underwear (yes, I really am thankful for them)

~ Universe - it's a great place to live

~ umbrellas, because they are fun

~ unconditional love from Jesus

~ understanding family and friends

~ union - the marriage between my honey and me

~ unspoken criticism

~ United States

~ U (as in, you!)

And that's it folks! The Uu section in the dictionary, where I looked for ideas, is quite small.

What are you thankful for that begins with the letter Uu? Maybe you can come up with more things than I did!

Thankful Thursday ~ Brought to You By the Letter Qq

Welcome to my favorite letter ~ Qq!

At least that is what I told my students. It sure helped them connect Qq with Mrs. Quantrell.

I do have lots of favorite letters though, about 26 of them. Qq just happens to be an important part of my family.

Some things that begin with Qq for which I am thankful:

~ Mr. Quantrell - 30 years of fantastic married life with my man coming up on Monday, June 22.

~ Quantrell's! (We do have rather a large clan.)

~ all the little Quantrell's (Hayden, Khloe, Donavyn, Gage and their parents Chelsie and Collin, Taylor and Jamie), though their last name may be different than Quantrell

~ quarters - the fastest way to get to a dollar

~ quail with their cute topnotches

~ quiet (see above - quiet is an important commodity)

~ quilts, oh so colorful and cozy

And that about wraps up the list of Qq words of things I would share on a thankful list. Not too many words or things begin with Qq, which makes Qq that much more special.

Have a quonderful day!

PS Do you have something that begins with Qq for which you are thankful?

What's In Your Garden?

Lovely lilies nesting beside a laden lavender bush make me sigh with quiet pleasure.

Isn't that what gardens are about? To admire the beauty and give thanks to the One who created such gifts?

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day!

Moms, we thank you for all you've done for us and how you love us. Thank you!

Thanks for . . .

picking up our messes
wiping our tears
holding our hands
sending us on our way
welcoming us back home
keeping us in line
making us behave
teaching us to serve
loving us regardless
taking us to church
taking care of us
being on our team
telling us no
letting us learn the hard way
telling us yes
sometimes pretending not to see
working your fingers to the bone to keep us healthy, clean, and fed
sacrificing for us

Mostly, moms, thank you for being you!

We love you.

XOXOXO

***Photos are of some of the wonderful moms in our family.

~ John (the book of)

~ johns (as in toilets; I do love indoor plumbing - as opposed to outdoor)

Just joking and jesting, but jiggling jello doesn't jump and makes a jubilant mess on my jeans. (My silly attempt to use lots of Jj words in one sentence.)

What are you thankful for?

D is rather a drastic letter to consider in terms of objects. Drums, Dodo's, dinosaurs . . . determined to depend on D for defining my thanks.

Angie Quantrell loves the challenges found in words. Being thankful is a necessary character trait for one who is at peace with swirling events around her. I am truly thankful.
